Well, meet my new friend Janome CoverPro 1000CP

Yes, as of today I am proud owner of a coverstitch machine. This powerful machine will help me achieve the professional finish I've been craving for years. And now there is nothing stopping me.
Why Janome? Well for starters it has 16 Glowing Reviews on PR and if that weren't enough, the 300 page long topic on the boards convinced me it was a match made in heaven :)
The stars must be all lined up for this because around the same time Emily also decided to get this machine and both of us called Neverett's who gave us an AWESOME DEAL on the machine. So we took a little trip today and two pretty machines followed us home!
Sky is the limit now! Oh I am so happy. My b'day came early this year.
Emily and I with our 1000CPs

Update: I had to try the machine the day I brought it home, so I quickly cut out a top and hemmed it. I even undid the twin needle stitching on one of my earlier tops to redo it with the coverstitch. And I NEVER fix things (more on that later)...

What a fantastic photo! Yay! Enjoy your new coverstitch!
Oooooh. Love the blog name change too!
Congratulations! How wonderful and certainly most deserved. And I too love your new blog name- was confused at first when I saw it in my feed, but then there was no Deepika so... It's a perfect name :))
Thanks you guys! The machine is still in it's box. I am cutting out two t-shirts right now to practice!
I know how lame was my previous blog name. I mean how full of myself can I be? But in my defense when I started the blog, I was sort of directionless. I didn't really know what I would do with it so in a rush I just chose my name.
Just LOOK at you two cute ladies in the snow with your CS machines! You go, girls... Sew like the wind with those things! I wish I lived up there to play with you.
You both look very happy with your new toys. I love my CP 900.
Be prepared to bore people silly by making them look at your immaculate, professional-looking hems. They won't get it, but you're going to LOVE this machine.
Congratulations! I love my serger/cover stitch machine and I know you'll love yours! Happy Early Birthday! :)
That picture says it all. Congratulations. Now you are going to wonder why in the world you waited so long.
Karen, you are right. I want to walk down the road showing random strangers my coverhem. I ordered 4 spools of MaxiLock yesterday. I am also contemplating ripping out the hems from my old tops and redoing them. I am INSANE!
Deepika, check out Atlanta Thread Co. - http://store.atlantathread.com/ - they have a huge selection of Gutermann thread colors and the prices are amazing. I know you can use regular thread spools on the coverstitch, but why waste small spools? I ordered 3 colors to begin with - black, cream and chocolate brown, all colors I know I'll get a lot of use from - but I'm already making up my next order.
Did I mention I LOVE this machine?
Karen, I bought four spools from Altalanta Thread actually. But I bought MaxiLock. Do you use Gutterman for serger/coverlock? Is it better? Oh I hope they have not already shipped my order. I'll have to add more spools on it.
Congratulations on your new purchase! I got the same machine thinking it was a luxury. After using it I now consider it a necessity. Who hems without a coverstitch? ;-)
I know! Today I ripped out twin needle stitching from one of my old tops and redid it using my coverhem. What a difference. I am officially hooked. Now I am thinking of ways to use this machine.
I can't wait to hear what you think of your new machine---I've been thinking about getting one...
Oh, Deepika! You're going to love it and never stop! I'm so thrilled for you. You both look really happy in your picture.
Jodi
Congratulations on your delightful new toy Deepika!
Just with regards to your new blog title and background. I was posting on the PR board for favourite romantic movie and said 'The Sound of Music' which reminded me of the curtains Julie Andrews made into dresses in the movie for the picnic with all he children. Your blog background and title kind of reminds me of those curtains that eventually became clothes.
Oh how sweet. Now I have to see that movie again!
I'm drooling over your new CS machine and the sample picture you posted. Enjoy your new toy!
Wow lucky you! I am so glad you wrote this post as I have been wondering what exactly a coverstitch machine is and why everyone seems to be buying them! I have only just got a (Janome) overlocker so I am a looong way from coverstitch!
