Meet the winners of PR's first ever WOOL Contest. As you know in this contest only 100% wool projects were allowed. I have to say that voting was the hardest in this contest, because ALL the entries deserved to be NUMBER 1. But since we do need to choose two winners, we opened the voting to you and hard though it may be, you guys chose well!

So meet the winners of the Wool Contest.

First Prize : yorkshire lass FOR McCalls 5252 (Jacket), made with Pure Wool Boucle.

I was absolutely stunned when I heard I'd won. I still can't quite believe it and had to print the results out and pin them to my sewing room wall.

We are all winners with our garments in gorgeous wool and there were a lot of garments I would have loved to have "adopted" for myself.

Thanks to Kellie for running the contest and Trendy Fabrics for allowing me to break my fabric diet legitimately."

Second Prize : Eme FOR Vogue 8156 (Pants), made in 100% Pendleton Wool in a Grey herringbone pattern

Wow - 2nd place - what a great way to start out 2008! Prior to the contest I would have categorized my skill level comfortably at "beginner," and even though my stash is approximately 75% wool, I've never made a wool garment! I really wanted to take the opportunity to explore this fabric and stretch my skills with a challenging pattern.
Not only did my sewing techniques improve greatly, but I learned how to manage a complex project by breaking it down into mini-tasks in order to keep momentum and avoid burning out, and also, how to document my work in a way that would be helpful to others (the final review). I was aided in every step by great book resources (recommended by PR members) and sewing blogs (written or recommended by PR members) and message threads (written by PR members - see a trend here?). All in all, a great fabric, a super contest and a wonderful experience.
Congratulations to everyone who participated - you all created beautiful garments!

CONGRATULATIONS to both the winners.

Thanks to Kellie for managing the contest and TrendyFabrics.com for sponsoring this contest.
