The idea came when I was in Germany for PR Weekend Europe. Annika and I were talking and she said "Why don't we have a west coast PR Weekend?". And I had no answer. So folks lets plan it.
Plan and Dates
Los Angeles, California - March 14th, 15th, 16th 2008
Venue:
The Sheraton Downtown
Plan (subject to change)
March 14th - Friday
Friday morning/early afternoon: Group Tours of the FIDM exhibit. 16th Annual Art of Motion Pictures Costume Design.
Friday afternoon 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Hands on couture techniques class with our Guest Speaker - SUSAN KHALJE! Separate registration required for this. Limit 25.
Class Information and Registration
Those who are not attending this class can tour the FIDM Museum at this time.
Friday (4:00 - 7:00): Time off for Group Dinners. I am assuming there will be about 50 or so people. We may or may not be able to do a big group dinner. So we may do smaller group dinners.
Friday evening 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM : Trunk Show with Susan Khalje - For all PR Weekend registered attendees.
March 15th - Saturday
Saturday all day: Fabric shopping at the Fashion District.
Saturday night: Group dinner. We are trying to find a place big enough for 50+ people where we can have a simple, cozy meal. More info on this later.
March 16th - Sunday
Sunday morning: Specialty shopping / Snoop shopping groups. If people have any interest in seeing the stores off the garment district this is the day. Haven't made plans yet but here's what came up with my conversation with Kathi:
a) Trims/Button/Lace stores
b) Bargain Stores
c) High End Fabrics/Silk stores
d) Mood Fabrics

PR Weekend Registration Fee - $75
PR Weekend + Hands-on Class Registration - $105

Please note that Registration is required to attend this event.
Why Register? Some of you have asked, what the registration is for? Registration includes:
1. Meeting Room Rental at the hotel for Friday and Saturday.
2. Saturday night group dinner.
3. Guest speaker fee.
4. Handouts, Souvenirs, Badges, Overheads etc.
We'll be staying at the Sheraton Los Angeles, Downtown. I've booked a 12 double rooms with 2 double beds and 10 single rooms.
About the rooms at the hotel

a) Double rooms with 2 double beds $169/night
b) Single rooms with 1 king bed $169/night
A 14% tax will apply on top of this.
More information about the hotel and other details will be emailed to you as soon as I receive your registration fee.
