Winners of 2023 Swimwear Contest

The winners of the 2023 Swimwear Contest have been selected.  Almost everyone has at least one swimsuit in their wardrobe, with room for more.  There are so many patterns and fabrics out there that are suitable for any gender, body type, and style taste that it just makes sense to sew up your own.  For this contest, we asked our members to sew swimwear (bathing suit/swimsuit) for a woman, man or child. The following is a list of what is considered acceptable Bathing suit items: one piece, two piece or tankini, Swim shorts, Swim skirts, UV protected wear swim wear and modest swimwear. What was not allowed: swimming accessories such as cover-ups, yoga wear, running attire or other leisure wear. See more Contest Rules here.

21 members participated in this contest.  All our members of PatternReview had the opportunity to vote to decide the First Place Winner. The Second Place winner was a random draw by PatternReview. And the winners are....

First Prize Winner:  AshwiniJ in her Patterns for Pirates Take the Plunge Swimsuit

AshwiniJ has not had swimwear in her wardrobe for the last 30 years, so this Take the Plunge Suit is her first as an adult.  Why did AshwiniJ "take the plunge" and make her own suit? "We're planning to repeat this trip with a real stop on the beach, and I decided that I can't hang out on the beach in jeans and a T-shirt. While it's unlikely that I'll hit the water, I might need the swimsuit to sit on a mat on the sand, as it would be uncomfortable to do that in normal clothes."  Congratulations on this perfect new swimsuit for the beach! See her review here.

Second Prize Winner (Random): kellyt in her Bikini Design Club asymmetric bikini bottom

kellyt made her Bikini Design Club asymmetric bikini bottom for the second time, hoping they would fit better. Unfortunately she had other problems with the reversible elastics. Your perseverance made for a really cool looking swim bottom! See kellyt's review here
